We are in the process of learning how to sit up on our own for longer than 10 seconds. We have had mixed results but a lot of fun trying and falling. And look at those blue eyes!
Sometimes it is just easier to lean on the pillow than use our muscles.
She loves to play with the mouse and the keyboard so it is a prize for her when she does sit up. (I don't love the pictures of her actually sitting up because normally her head is down and you can see how bald she is).

Have you heard of the Bumbo seat? That is what we got for Emma and she was sitting up at 5 months. They are awesome!
