Our Weekend

This last weekend Kevin's Mom and Dad were nice enough to watch Maddy for us so Kevin and I were able to have a baby free time! I missed her terribly but at the same time it was wonderful! On Friday night we went out to eat and then went and saw Confessions of a Shopaholic. I LOVED it and Kevin even said that it was alright. It was clean and I laughed out loud at a couple of parts. It will definitely be one that I buy when it comes out on DVD. Then that night I got to sleep through the night for the first time in almost 9 months.

On Saturday Kevin decided he wanted to go over the Sierras to Sacramento. The drive there was slow going because of it was snowing but it was also beautiful. Then we got to California and I fell it love! Mostly because it is green and some flowers were blooming as opposed to ugly brown Reno. Our first stop was the outlets and we got Maddy an Easter dress but really it was a bust. Then we went to eat at my favorite place ever- Panera! It has yummy soups, salads and sandwiches plus bagels, and to die for chocolate chip cookies. There are no Paneras in Reno or in Provo so I have only been able to eat there when I go home so this was a special treat. Our next stop of the day was at IKEA. That store is always fun to just walk around in and look at all the fun stuff. We ended up buying Kevin a dresser. He has been living out of a big blue bin since we moved her 1 1/2 years ago. Finally we went to Target and the Jelly Belly store. We figured Maddy needed a present so she would forgive us for leaving her so we got her the stroller. Then Kevin wanted some Jelly Bellys for the ride home. A weird quirk about us as a couple is that he really likes chewy fruity things and I prefer chocolate. I guess its good though because we don't eat each others snacks.

The drive home was uneventful and faster than the drive there but by the time we got back to Reno we were exhausted. So Maddy spent one more night in Fallon. We got up on Sunday and drove down to get her. She was not as excited as I wanted her to be- meaning we did not get any high pitched squeals and tears of delight but we can work on that. She was excited to see us though and so were we. We then spent the day in Fallon.

We spent our President's Day morning taking a tour of the UPS center in Reno where Kevin works. They are promoting safety awareness and wanted families to see that. It was great to be able to put some faces to names and actually get to see where he goes every morning. But it was cold! I feel so bad for him because it is even colder at 4:30 AM. The rest of the day was spent shopping, putting together a dresser, and playing with our baby. Now it is back to the daily grind of classes and high schoolers.

You guys are seriously nuts for going over the Sierras while it was snowing. It could have gotten so much worse!=) I'm glad you got out together. Joe and I have never had the opportunity to leave our kids overnight. Sigh, maybe one day!

I'm pretty sure that's where my parents and I ate when we were at your wedding. Sounds like a fun weekend!
