Nordlingen, Germany

Our next stop on the Romantic Road was Nordlingen. Nordlingen was built in the largest crater in Europe so the city walls are almost circular. It was not as quaint as Dinklesbuhl but had a fun tower to climb and you could walk around the city walls.

 

Our first order of business was to climb Daniel's tower. It was over 700 m high and Scott and Kevin opted out of the climb.

 

Can you spot Scott and Kevin and our enormous double stroller by the fountain? Kevin was pushing Scott in the double stroller and a little old German lady came up to him and was very concerned that he had lost a child.

We made it!

 

Then we had to go back down and it was much more treacherous. I had to carry Maddy on some parts because the stairs were so narrow and steep.

Random house but I liked how the house was from 1690 and was older than my entire country.

Then we walked along the city walls and pretended to be back in the middle ages.

The pig is the most popular animal in town because supposedly back in the 1500s a pig saved the city. A woman came outside one night and noticed a pig hanging out by the city gate. She walked closer to inspect it and noticed that the gate was open. The guards were alerted and it turned out that the guards had been paid to leave it open so a neighboring city could attack. So the pig was made a hero!
