So today I got to put out another fight! Oh and joys of high school. This time the fight was between two big Mexican boys. It all started when my kids were coming into class and informed me that there was a fight going on outside. It took me a minute to process the fact that I should be out there, but then it clicked and I walked outside. Sure enough there were two boys going at it. Well really one boy was on top of the other one and was punching him. I did what any young and small teacher would do and I started yelling. Secretly hoping that a big male teacher would show up. (In my corner of the school there are actually no male teachers which now I see as very poor planning.) Anyways, another female teacher showed up and the one boy got off of the other boy. As soon as he was off of him he wound up and kicked him as hard as he could in the ribs. Then he started to walk away. I followed him because I had no idea who he was and then a male teacher showed up. He actually knew this student and took over. I then went back to my traumatized sophomores. As soon as I walked in the door I told them that I could have taken them. All of my students agreed and some even offered their services for next time. It took me a little while for my hands to stop shaking but they did and now I am home with my baby and husband to protect me and make me feel better.
Don't you feel better now too?

I would love to see you break up a fight! Maddy looks so cute in this pic- yellow is definitely a good color on her :-)
blue eyed babies in yellow dresses always make me feel better.
whew. i feel better too.
I do not feel better. I do not want you breaking up any more fights.
So I can totally imagine you following this big kid around and him thinking, seriously what is this little woman going to do to me. You are so funny. It sucks though that this is part of your job. Too bad they didn't have classes in college about how to deal with fighting. Cute little girl to come home to!
That does make me feel better. She is adorable in yellow. You have lots of courage breaking up those fights. Good 'ol high school.
Jenny,
This is so fun. I just got started and here I am finding all my cute Ohio young woman on their blogs! I was watching Jenessa (14) at a young women volleyball game the other day and just got thinking of all my young women and this has been a trip down memory lane. I wonder if there is a cuter baby anywhere? Now if your daughter could just marry Heidi's son...people would forget all about Tom Cruise. Wow. Now you just need to put me on your Christmas card list so I can forever keep in touch. I don't have a blog but my e-mail is jillblotter@yahoo.com so e-mail me your address and I'll send you a Christmas card. And any other Ohio young women that reads this, do the same! I'm turning 40 this month and it's making me realize how fast life is flying by. I'm so happy for you Jenny and your sweet little family! Love you, Jill Blotter
