Lets Go Ride A Bike!

Our neighbor very graciously let us borrow an old bike for Maddy. She has been begging for one since we moved here and she noticed that all German kids have bikes. The German kids are AMAZING on their bikes. The way they do it here is they start off on a bike with no pedals to learn how to balance and then they go straight to a big kid bike- they skip the tricycles and the training wheels.
Well we are American so our little girl needed training wheels. As soon as she got on the bike she took off. I was amazed! Since she has started riding she has gotten better at starting from a complete stop, riding uphill and in the dirt and has only tipped over a couple times when she rode into the gutter and tried to turn.

Right behind our house is a park with a lake, playground and trails. So now we often go on family bike rides in the evenings.

European baby swings are scary!

First time riding! We make her wear a helmet normally but forgot because she just took off.

I know I lament this often but she is getting big way too fast!

When Blake was in preschool they had the strider bikes which is the ones with no pedals, it helped him to ride with no training wheels so fast! We swear by them.
