Anne Frank's House. The tour was very interesting and I am glad that I did it. It was nice to finally get to visualize where the secret annex was and how it was laid out. After the war Anne's father donated the house to make it in to a museum but wanted to leave the rooms empty as a symbol of all the people who never came home. At the end of the tour the actual diary was on display which was a nice bonus.
There are house boats all down the canal. Some were cute and others were junky but I don't know how they stand to have tour boats going by their house all day long.
It really was a beautiful city. I was sad that I did not get more pictures but I have to remind myself that I am touring the city with a giant double stroller, two kids and a husband so I don't really have time to stop and take pictures.
They had these letters that spelled I amsterdam. People were climbing all over them and Maddy wanted in on the action
Scott just wanted to sleep
Later we went to a park and all Scott wanted to do was play with the gate and let the other kids escape while their parents weren't watching
We ate pancakes for lunch because the Netherlands are supposed to be known for them
Then we took a canal tour because Maddy always begs to ride a boat but then gets bored after we are on it for 5 minutes.
All the houses in Amsterdam have a hook hanging from the top. This is because the wider your house was the more it cost. So the house were all narrow and tall and no furniture could fit up the staircases. So the hooks are so furniture can come out the windows.
We also went to the Van Gogh Museum which was interesting and I went to the Rijksmusuem by myself. It was nice to seem some famous art and get to actually read the plaques and take my time.
