The fake David at Piazza della Signoria. Maddy was very excited to see David and kept asking me to tell the story over and over again. This David has nothing on the real one though. The real David is pretty darn amazing. I might have a crush on Michelangelo.
Fountain of Neptune
Some more famous statues
Maddy wanted her picture by the Lion but was careful not too touch it because a woman in front of us got yelled at for touching.
Ponte Vecchio
Scott fell asleep after screaming in the Uffizi Museum and while crossing Ponte Vecchio
A one euro carousel ride? Yes please!
I really wanted to climb to the top of the dome to see how it was made and the view from the top. I figured Maddy could do it since she had already climbed the Cologne Cathedral which is taller. Once we started climbing a nice Italian man offered to carry her and then she would not walk anymore by herself. The poor guy got more than he bargained for but I was immensely grateful.
View from the top! I got lots of looks and comments once I was up there with two little kids. Most people thought I was crazy!
Maddy took this picture. Pretty darn cute- future photographer?
The kids decided to see how many different surfaces in Italy they could lay on. There are quite a few. Good thing they are mostly up to date on their shots.
On the way down another Italian man asked if he could carry Maddy and of course she said yes.
We made it
And we ended the day seeing the real David and eating McDonalds while waiting for Kevin to come pick us up and take us to Rome!
